Called an “all-hazards preparedness” facility, this lab design required increased safety and security requirements. Concrete floors were designed to allow accurate use of vibration sensitive lab equipment. The first level was strengthened to support the loads imposed by Radio Chemistry testing equipment. The design incorporated many aspects of sustainable design including a fully landscaped Green Roof, and site landscaping structures using photovoltaic panels above picnic tables and outside gathering areas, providing shade and renewable energy.
