Unfortunately, a prison is a small city with many different types of support structures that serve the actual prison cells. Dunn Associates, Inc. has had the privilege to design 13 of these support structures totaling approximately 250,000 square feet. Each structure is unique and incorporates different framing systems and materials. This ground up campus of buildings will permit the well care of both working patrons as well as inmates. With the groundwater only inches below grade, this development has been a structural challenge. These 13 structures include a warehouse, motor pool and records storage buildings. Four of the buildings that house central administration, visitor/staff processing, armory, lock shop, kennel and communications. And another four buildings hold a production kitchen, central laundry, vocational training, greenhouses, and central building maintenance.
