Victor Torres was recently awarded the 2018-2019 Fresh Face of Engineering by the Structural Engineers Association of Utah (SEAU). This award spotlights the outstanding contributions of Utah’s youngest engineers. SEAU’s Fresh Face of Engineering Award strives to promote the accomplishments of young engineers by highlighting their engineering contributions and the resulting impact on society.
Victor has a passion for the advancement of the structural engineering profession and has volunteered for organizations such as ASCE and Engineering Without Borders USA. Victor is the current Young Member Group Chairman for SEAU which focuses on offering four professional development seminars throughout the year to the engineering and academic community. The seminars intend to offer continuing education topics to younger engineers in order to continue learning and improving on technical and personal skills related to the structural engineering profession. As the YMG Chairman, Victor is responsible for coordinating with the YMG committee (Past Chair and Vice Chair) the seminars topics and presenters. Students and professor’s liaisons are also involved in the coordination process. The seminars are broadcast to the U of U, BYU and USU benefiting students and young professionals in their development and transition stages throughout the state of Utah.
